Adult Education and Literacy
The mission of the WCJC Adult Education and Literacy program is to provide English as a Second Language (ESL) course, High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation course, Transitions to College/TSI courses, and Integrated Education and Training courses to adults who reside within Wharton County Junior College service areas and assigned service areas by the grant recipient, Houston Galveston Area Council (HGAC). The AEL program integrates active learning skills and informative literacy components into the teaching/learning process taking place in the classroom. Through the provision of professional staff, print and non-print materials, digital technologies, physical facilities, and supportive equipment, the WCJC AEL program provides the delivery of instructional services at no cost to the students. In keeping with the role and scope of the institution, the WCJC AEL program also offers its services and its facilities for community use.
