The APTA represents more than 80,000 physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and physical therapy students throughout the United States. Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA)
The Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA) is a chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). TPTA membership is approximately 4,500 physical therapists and physical therapist assistants, and students. The state is divided into 13 districts so members have local representation and a number of participation opportunities. Accreditation of Physical Therapy and Physical Therapist Assistant Programs
The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) is recognized as the accrediting agency for education programs in physical therapy by the US Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Accreditation recognizes professional education programs for a level of performance, integrity, and quality that entitles them to the confidence of the education community and the public they serve. Accreditation status signifies that the program meets established and nationally accepted standards of scope, quality, and relevance.
The Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Wharton County Junior College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). CAPTE accreditation of a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant program satisfies state educational requirements in all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin islands.
